"All living things contain a measure of madness that moves them in strange, sometimes inexplicable ways." -Yann Martel
here it is. a short little square ottoman, made out of an old chair. I like it.when I started this random project, my dad kept mentioning how much he appreciated my vision--whatever it was I saw in this old chair frame that made me think it ought to be made into something new. what he calls 'vision' might be my own kind of madness. I'm always looking sideways at things like old shingles, broken dishes, bits of metal, and especially blank paper, thinking they ought to be given new life by whatever impractical means.
the other thing dad kept saying, in response to my 'how smooth do I have to sand it?' and 'how long do I have to polish?' was it only has to be as perfect as you want. I hope I remember that idea for a long time. I hope I can try hard enough to make things that perfect.

glad you like it. I wanted to bring it down here with me for a while... but it would've been totally awkward in the van with us. so it's still home in the basement, sitting there....
