twenty inches of glory

okay.

work. is. amazing.

and i think amazing is the right word. i'm in constant state of amazement, from my natural, never-ending curiosity to the full-on cluelessness that accompanies new experiences.

and all this is way new.

i've never used a mac before, much less a gorgeous 20-inch flatscreen G5 mac. it's the most beautiful machine i've ever seen. it's an honor to sit in front of it every day. it's only been two weeks but i already prefer OS X to my windows whatever XP that i have at home.

anyway, my job is fabulous. and not only because of the mac. i get to do so many things... i used to be afraid of choosing just one job. i didn't want to miss out. but here i get a little bit of web design, a little bit of marketing, a little writing, editing, and a bit of graphic design. and in all of it i'm learning things every day. i'm figuring out the further depths of InDesign. i've learned to use Illustrator and GoLive. i'm exploring the giant monster of our Xerox DC5252 color printer. currently there is ink under my fingernails because this morning we had to disembowl the monster and clean its wires. that was fun. thankfully since we did that we only had one paper jam and the 3500 copies of the magazine we're finishing today have been printing smoothly and happily.

so when i'm not designing wedding invitations and making copies, i re-write the content for various websites and contribute in other miscellaneous ways to their development. it's great.

there's also shae's place....
my roommate and colleague shae owns a blossoming catering company. i designed a really nice menu for her, and some business cards. shae bakes the most glorious rolls. they're amazing. her trademark dishes are all dutch oven. i love it. when she opens her restaurant i hope i have time to help her out with that. it'll be fun.

anyway.
life continues. being done with school is weird. when fall comes back it's going to feel really different.
