scratchless

here, unrelatedly, is a recipe for apple pie from Carl Sagan. it was his birthday last week.
{from this kind soul on flickr.}

nothing is original, eh? everything is remix.

I'm researching, for my Argumentation Theory class, lots of things about copyright and recipes and food and stories. what does the fact that recipes cannot be legally copyrighted say about our society? anything interesting? how do we handle this not-really-but-sort-of-intellectual-property in real life? a certain Christopher Buccafusco has written a lengthy dissertation on the question. do I need to read all 45 pages of it? perhaps not. but I might anyway.
